Tilisa is a first-year graduate student in Electrical Engineering with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. Having grown up in Las Vegas, she developed an early interest in technology and problem-solving. As an undergraduate she worked on a UAV research project with Dr. Venki, an experience that sparked her interest in autonomous systems and motivated her to pursue graduate studies. Her academic interests include control systems, machine learning, and autonomous technologies. She hopes to contribute to the future of robotics, intelligent systems, and autonomous platforms. Outside of research, she enjoys playing volleyball and reading.
I’m developing an indoor UAV system that enables reliable autonomous flight in GPS-denied environments by using onboard sensing for localization, obstacle detection, and navigation. The system relies on sensor based perception to map and understand its surroundings in real time, allowing it to plan safe paths and maintain stable flight indoors where GPS is unavailable.
